Chelsea attacker Morgan Rogers has dismissed concerns over him and Cole Palmer fitting in together at Stamford Bridge. The England international sealed a £117 million move to link up with the Blues this summer.
Notably, Rogers played alongside Palmer during their time together at Manchester City’s academy. While Palmer went on to play for the first team at City before joining Chelsea, Rogers had to leave their former club in search of senior level football.

Years later, Rogers and Palmer have finally reunited at Chelsea. After his blockbuster arrival from Aston Villa, Rogers noticed how some people raised questions over him and Palmer playing together in the same team.
But the 24-year-old has no doubt that they will be a success on the pitch. Rogers shrugged off such doubts by pointing to how their different qualities actually make for a good combination.
The attacker told Sky Sports:
“I’ve seen people saying, ‘how are you going to fit them in? How are they going to play?’
“We have completely different qualities. He’s more of a passer, a linker, a combiner. He’s like an artist in the way he moves with the ball and plays with it.
“I’m more direct, more straight line and more physical. We’re completely different and that offsets really well.”
Rogers also touched upon how he has played with Palmer since he was a kid and stressed on the fact that they know how to get the best out of each other.
He added:
“I’ve known his game, he’s known my game since we were what, 14? We’ve played with each other at England and stuff like that, so we know exactly how to play with each other and to get the best out of each other.”
Rogers scored in Chelsea’s final pre-season game against Real Sociedad on Saturday as the Blues secured a 3-1 win.

The 2026/27 Premier League season kicks off on Friday, when reigning champions Arsenal host newly-promoted Coventry City at the Emirates. Manchester United face Hull City on Saturday, while Manchester City and Liverpool begin their campaigns the next day.
Chelsea, on the other hand, host neighbours Fulham on Monday night to wrap up gameweek 1 in the Premier League. The Blues finished 10th in the league last season and are now gearing up for a fresh start under Xabi Alonso.
In addition to Rogers, the west London club have also signed Danny Welbeck, Jordan Henderson, Maxence Lacroix, Pep Chavarria, Valentin Barco and Marco Palestra this summer.
