There is little over a fortnight to go, and Chelsea have the uphill task of shifting at least 10 players. A Champions League club have just posted a statement regarding one of Xabi Alonso’s players.
Benoit Badiashile, Liam Delap, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson, Pedro Neto, Tosin Adarabioyo and plenty of other Chelsea players face the scrapheap. Even more so, if Chelsea want to make any more signings.

So far, only five have been sold: Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Cucurella, Andrey Santos, Tyrique George and Jimmy-Jay Morgan. The latter has three goals and an assist in two West Brom games since a £4m move.
Alonso left Jackson, Tosin and Delap out of his squad to face Sociedad, but another player involved against Alonso’s old side was the subject of a statement from a Champions League club on Saturday.
Fenerbahce post surprise Jamie Gittens statement
Reports in Turkey have emerged over the last few days that Fenerbahce were considering a move to sign £55m Chelsea signing Gittens. It comes after a poor first season in which Gittens was riddled by injuries.
However, Gittens has starred during pre-season. The English talent looks back to his best, and it is quite clear that Alonso likes him. Certainly, he will at least provide cover for Morgan Rogers on the left flank.
It came a bit out of the blue then, when Fenerbahce took a leaf out of Real Madrid’s book and posted a statement. It saw the Turkish side debunk rumours that they were looking to raid Chelsea for Gittens.
The post is translated as: “Reports appearing today in certain media outlets claiming that our Club is interested in Chelsea FC player Jamie Gittens are completely baseless and do not reflect the truth.
“We once again clearly state that attempts to influence Fenerbahce Sports Club through false transfer claims and artificially created agendas will not succeed,” the Turkish side continue, in their statement.
“Fenerbahçe conducts its sports organization, transfer policy, and future planning across all sports – particularly soccer – in accordance with its own strategy, needs, and established program.
“For this reason, we expect an end to this approach aimed at shaping public opinion and steering Fenerbahce in certain directions by using our Club’s name,” Fenerbahce sum up regarding Gittens.
The statement is good news; Chelsea need to keep Jamie Gittens
Chelsea have a whole host of players that need to be sold. Delap, Badiashile, Disasi, Gaga Slonina, Tosin, and other Blues stars that have failed to make the grade in blue. Money needs to be raised at Chelsea.
But it would be a blow to lose Gittens. Arguably one of Chelsea’s best players during pre-season, the winger is hell-bent on proving Chelsea fans wrong, and if he can remain fit, he has a huge future.

Selling after just one season would be a waste. This is a player with huge potential; there is a reason why Chelsea paid £55m for him in the first place. Chelsea need to sell those who do not need replacing.
Tosin, Delap, Jackson – they don’t need replacing, and it’s about removing unwanted depth. If Chelsea sold Gittens, they would suddenly look light on the left flank. Fener’s statement is good news.
Had the Turkish club, who are spending big this summer, made a bid, Chelsea might have felt the need to accept given the need to sell. Gittens might have been tempted to play in the Champions League.
But Fenerbahce confirming they are not interested in the Englishman is good news. It rids Chelsea of having to make a decision, or Gittens having his head turned just a week before the start of the season.
