Trevoh Chalobah has opened up and revealed that he will give everything for new club Como after he complete a £25 mllion move from Chelsea this week.
The defender has joined the Serie A club after Chelsea and Como reached an agreement earlier this month, with the deal reported to be worth around £25 million up front, plus a further £5 million in potential add-ons. Earlier reports had valued the package at approximately €30 million guaranteed, rising to €36 million depending on bonuses.
Chalobah joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of eight and progressed through the club’s youth system before establishing himself in the senior squad. His development included loan spells at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and French club Lorient before he returned to Stamford Bridge and made his first-team breakthrough.
He made his senior Chelsea debut in 2021 and went on to become a versatile option in defence, capable of playing at centre-back and right-back. He leaves having made more than 100 Premier League appearances for the club and 151 senior appearances across competitions, according to reports surrounding his departure.
Chalobah’s CHELSEA career also brought silverware, including the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, while he represented England at senior level
On his arrival, Trevoh said: “I’m thrilled and honored to be here at Como: it’s an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fàbregas again is truly special.
“I can’t wait to bring my experience to the team, feel the incredible atmosphere at the stadium, and connect with the fans. I will give my absolute all every single day to make history together”.
Right move to make?
For years, Chalobah has had to fight for his place at CHELSEA . He has worked under different managers, competed against expensive signings and endured periods when his future at the club appeared uncertain. Yet whenever the opportunity arrived, he generally proved himself to be a reliable and versatile option.
At Como, the expectation should be different. He is not simply another defender competing for minutes in an enormous squad. He has arrived as a significant investment and as a player with Premier League, Champions League and international experience.
Reported figures put the transfer at around €30 million plus potential bonuses — a sizeable commitment from a club with ambitions of establishing itself among Europe’s elite.
