Ruben Amorim is in line to become AC Milan’s new manager, and Manchester United will be delighted at those developments.

Amorim emerged as a surprise leading contender to replace Massimiliano Allegri in the Milan dugout, and has since accepted personal terms as he waits for the final details to be ironed out.

The Portuguese boss has been out of work since his sacking from Manchester United in January, collecting a 31% win percentage in Premier League matches, making him one of the worst managers in the club’s history.

To make matters worse, Amorim received a payoff for being relieved of his duties 18 months before his two-and-a-half-year contract was set to expire.

But according to The Telegraphnews of the 41-year-old joining the Italian giants will be music to United’s ears, as they will be spared millions in compensation payments.

An accounting report in February revealed that Amorim’s exit would have cost them £15.9 million in compensation; however, that figure will be “slashed” now that he is poised to take over at Milan.

Man United won’t have to wait long for a reunion with the Portuguese tactician, too, as they announced on Tuesday that they will play Milan in a friendly in Wroclaw, Poland on August 15, a week before the new Premier League season starts.
