The legendary winger’s relationship with Slot appeared to completely breakdown as the season drew to a close, with Salah taking to social media to voice his concerns about the club’s style of play throughout a difficult season.

Slot has since been sacked by the club and replaced by Andoni Iraola, who is well known for a more intense brand of football.

Speaking ahead of Egypt’s World Cup opener against Belgium on Monday (June 15), Salah’s international teammate Ahmed El-Shenawy appeared to suggest Salah could yet stay at Liverpool.

“He spent a long time there. He got used to the club, gave them everything, lived many happy moments there, won a lot of trophies,” the goalkeeper told Egyptian broadcaster ON Sport.

“Naturally, leaving would affect him. That’s normal.

“But who knows? Maybe things could still change and he could stay. Nobody knows.

“He said exactly: ‘Honestly, I still don’t know.’ That’s what he told me. So I really don’t know where he’ll go. He hasn’t made a decision yet.”
