In the same year, Rodri won the Premier League title with City and recorded an impressive 18 goal involvements from a deeper midfield role, while also starring on the international stage for his country.

The 29-year-old featured six times for Spain during their Euro 2024 triumph, and now he’s eyeing World Cup glory.

Spain are the favourites for the prestigious tournament, and Rodri is willing to do anything to make that prediction come true, including giving up his Ballon d’Or.

“Evidently and without a doubt, I WOULD TRADE the BALLON D’OR for the SECOND STAR,” he said in an interview with Spanish press.

“Winning with your country is the most special thing. The EUROCUP is the most important title I’ve won and the WORLD CUP is THE ULTIMATE.”

Spain last won the World Cup in 2010 and will be confident of getting this campaign off to a flying start in group fixtures against Cape Verde, Saudi Arabiaand Uruguay.
