It was far and away the most prolific campaign of his career, and Diaz is now among the favourites to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.

Quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Rodriguez backed his Colombia teammate to win the most prestigious individual award in football.

“Luis Diaz as Ballon d’Or, why not? For me he’s top five in the world right now already. If we get to the final, he can win the Ballon d’Or,” he said.
