“Martin, from a former captain of Arsenal to a captain of Arsenalcongratulations,” Vieira said (via Premier League). “I think it is an unbelievable achievement.

“What I really love about the team is the togetherness. We saw from outside a team that never gives up. Especially after the City game, where the response was quite special.

“Congratulations to you and the team for the success that you had by winning the Premier League.”

Odegaard was clearly pleased to receive the message, admitting that it means a lot to him to have won the Premier League trophy as the captain of the club.

“To be able to do that and to be one of the captains to lift the Premier League here is incredible, and so, so special,” Odegaard responded. “Yeah, nice to hear that from a proper legend.”

Whilst Odegaard has been a key player and a strong performer for Arsenal over recent years, 2025/26 was often difficult for him as he faced a few injury setbacks. So to end the Premier League season by lifting the trophy at Selhurst Park must have made it all feel worth it.

The hope now is that Odegaard comes through the World Cup without any further setbacks, and that he can then play much more regularly for Arsenal in 2026/27, as the Gunners look to defend their title and win even more.

The new season will obviously kick off with a chance at further silverware, with Arsenal taking part in the Community Shield in Wales on August 16th.

Mikel Arteta’s side will face a Manchester City without Pep Guardiola for the first time in many years, and they’ll want to get off on the right foot against City’s new manager.
