Real Madrid have announced that they made a €150 million (£129.4m) offer to sign Julián Alvarez, but Atletico Madrid have turned down the proposal.
“Real Madrid C. F. announces that, following today’s Board of Directors meeting, it has made an offer of €150 million to the Club Atlético de Madrid for the federative rights of the player Julian Alvarez,” they said in a statement.

“After reviewing and considering the offer, Club Atlético de Madrid thanked Real Madrid for the proposal, which was made in the context of the good relationship between both clubs, but have rejected it, referring to the player’s release clause.”
The striker, who is currently with the Argentine national team preparing for the World Cup, has been a target for Barcelona for several months, which even led Atletico to publicly complain about this ‘flirtation’ with their star player.
On this occasion, the La Liga club has not commented on the formal offer launched by its neighbor and eternal rival.
