Jose Mourinho is in Madrid finalising his three-year contract at the Santiago Bernabeu, and he’s already planning some key transfers.
Mourinho is personally pushing to sign Riccardo Calafiori from Arsenal as a versatile option at centre-back or left-back after agreeing deals for Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate.

A midfield acquisition is also near the top of his priority list, and according to Tuesday’s print edition of ASReal Madrid are working to sign Manchester United target Matthew Fernandes from West Ham.
United already made the first move for the Portuguese international, who suffered relegation with the Hammers, but Mourinho‘s interest could sway him towards the Spanish capital.
The report even claims that Fernandes is one of the manager’s “top targets”, and as super agent Jorge Mendes represents the player, there is even more reason to believe he will become a Galactico.
That said, West Ham are demanding an eye-watering £80 million for the 21-year-old, though it is hard to envisage the midfielder playing Championship football next season.
