Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City, and have called superagent Jorge Mendes to work on the deal. The Blues have asked him to help with the deal, much like he did in 2023 when they signed the midfielder from Benfica.
According to a report in AS, Fernandez wants to reunite with Enzo Maresca at Manchester City, after working with the Italian at Stamford Bridge. The manager is also pushing for the move and has asked the Cityzens to sign the 25-year-old, as he wants to add midfielders to the squad.
Thanks for the submission!
“Enzo wants to reunite with Enzo. All that’s left is to agree on a price. It’s no wonder his buyout clause was estimated at €140m [£120m], a sum that City isn’t willing to pay, at least not if it can help it. City has enough cash flow to make the move, especially if the Savinho transfer also goes through. Chelsea don’t want to lose out on the deal.”
Chelsea set a deadline of Friday, August 14th, for any side interested in signing the Argentina star. However, no side was willing to pay the £120 million asking price, and the deadline has since passed.
However, reports emerged that Manchester City launched a £102 million deal for the star midfielder last week. The Blues have rebuffed the claims, stating that no offer was on their table. adding that they were unwilling to negotiate a deal below their asking price.
Fernandez has six years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, and is also in talks over a new deal. Javier Pastore, his agent, has repeatedly stated that they are open to all situations, but was looking for new clubs too.
Javier Pastore revealed Real Madrid’s interest in Chelsea star
Javier Pastore spoke to AS earlier this year, revealing that Real Madrid were interested in signing Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea. He claimed that the Argentina star was also interested in the move and said:
“Yeah, Real Madrid’s been rumored. Real Madrid likes the best players, and Enzo has been one of the best players this year. He’s a player Real Madrid likes, and he likes Real Madrid, just like he likes other clubs that are out there. Now we have to wait a little bit.”
However, Real Madrid have rebuffed claims that they held any interest in the midfielder, or had talks with the agent. They released a statement saying that they were not making a move for the Chelsea star.
