Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice has admitted that he has already suffered sun burn across the pond.

The England squad have been thrown in the deep end this month as they made their way to the Florida training camp to face New Zealand and Costa Rica in their final games before the World Cup begins.

This camp was designed for the side to adapt to the heat before they head off to Texas for the first game against Croatia next Wednesday.

Texas is one of the hottest states in the US and England must be prepared for intense conditions in their opening clash.

Ricespeaking after the 3-0 win over Costa Rica in which he bagged the first goal, revealed he has already failed to protect himself from the sun.

“When the sun burn comes! I think everyone has seen those photos, I was bright red in that photo shoot. My mum was killing me!

“Honestly, the first day we came, it was just getting used to that heat. Coming from England where it’s hot-cold, all different types of weather, coming here and it’s always 30 degrees – it really does hit you in the face.

“After that week off, the first session was as bit cobweb-y, but the next two days after that felt really good and tonight, playing 60, was all I was ever going to play but I was in a really good space, I could probably have played longer so I’m really happy.”

England will now have a behind-closed-doors game against Miami FC to give some players extra minutes before the Croatia clash in which temperatures will be soaring once again.
